શ્રીમદ્ ભગવદ્ ગીતા એ હિંદુ ધર્મનો પ્રાચીન અને મુખ્ય પવિત્ર ગ્રંથ છે. ગીતા હિંદુ ધર્મનો ગણાતો હોવા છતાં ફક્ત હિંદુઓ પૂરતો સીમિત ન રહેતાંં પૂરા માનવસમાજ માટેનો ગ્રંથ ગણાય છે, અને વિશ્વચિંતકોએ તેમાંથી માર્ગદર્શન લીધું છે. હિંદુ ધર્મનાં ઘણા ધર્મગ્રંથો છે, પરંતુ ગીતાનું મહત્ત્વ અલૌકિક છે. ગીતાને "સ્મૃતિ ગ્રંથ" માનવામાં આવે છે.

The Bhagavad Gita is the oldest and most important sacred text of Hinduism. Although the Gita is considered a Hindu religion, it is considered to be a scripture for the entire human society, not limited to Hindus only, and world thinkers have taken guidance from it. There are many scriptures of Hinduism, but the significance of Gita is supernatural. The Gita is considered a Smriti Granth.

મૂળ ભગવદ્ ગીતા સંસ્કૃતમાં રચાયેલી છે, જેમાં કુલ ૧૮ અધ્યાય અને ૭૦૦ શ્લોકો છે. પૂરી ગીતા, થોડા શ્લોકોના અપવાદ સિવાય, અનુષ્ટુપ છંદમાં છે. ગીતાનો સમયકાળ આશરે ઇ.સ. પૂર્વે ૩૦૬૬નો માનવામાં આવે છે.
ભારતના બે આદિગ્રંથો પૈકીનું મહાભારત મહર્ષિ વેદવ્યાસે રચેલું છે. મહાભારત પાંડવો અને કૌરવો વચ્ચેના રાજકીય કાવાદાવા, સ્પર્ધા, અને અંતે યુદ્ધની કથા છે. મહાભારતના યુદ્ધના પ્રથમ દિવસે પાંડવ અર્જુન પોતાના મિત્ર, માર્ગદર્શક, અને સારથી બનેલા શ્રી કૃષ્ણને રથને બન્ને સેના વચ્ચે લેવાનું કહે છે. બન્ને સેનાનું વિહંગાવલોકન કરતી વખતે અર્જુનને લાખો લોકોના મૃત્યુનો ખ્યાલ આવ્યો. યુદ્ધના પરિણામોથી તે ભયભીત થઈ, યુદ્ધ ન કરવાના વિચારો કરવા લાગ્યો. તેના હાથમાંથી ધનુષ્ય પડી જાય છે અને તે રથમાં બેસી પડે છે અને કોઈ માર્ગ ન સૂઝતાં કૃષ્ણને માર્ગદર્શન માટે પૂછે છે. અર્જુન અને કૃષ્ણના સંવાદો મહાભારતના ભીષ્મ પર્વમાં છે. તે અઢાર અધ્યાયો ગીતા તરીકે પ્રચલિત છે.

Original Bhagavad Gita is formed in Sanskrit, which has 18 chapters and 700 verses. Apart from the exception of a few verses, the Geeta, Aushotup is in the verse. Gita's timeline approximately Perceived 3066 before.

The Mahabharata Maharishi's Vediversis of the two terraments of India is designed. Mahabharata Pandavas and Kaurava are the story of the war between the political, competition, and the end. On the first day of the Battle of Mahabharata, Pandav Arjun, and the essence is called Shri Krishna to take the chariot between both army. Arjun had the idea of death of millions of people while wearing both army. It was afraid of the results of war, began to think of war. The bow falls from his hand and he has to sit in the chariot and asks Krishna to the guidance of Krishna. Arjun and Krishna's dialogues are in the Bhishma of Mahabharata. It is prevalent as eighteen chapters gita.

ગીતામાં અર્જુન માનવનું પ્રતિનિધિત્વ કરે છે અને માનવ તરફથી ભગવાન કૃષ્ણને જીવનને લગતા વિવિધ પ્રશ્નો કરે છે. ગીતા મુજબ માનવ-જીવન એક યુદ્ધ છે જેમાં દરેકે લડવું પડે. યુદ્ધમાં પીછેહઠ કર્યા વગર આગળ વધવું તે ગીતાનો સંદેશ છે.

In the Gita, Arjuna represents the human being and asks various questions from human beings to Lord Krishna regarding life. According to the Gita, human life is a battle in which everyone has to fight. The message of the Gita is to move forward without retreating in battle

ગીતા કોઈ સામાન્ય ધર્મગ્રંથની જેમ કશું કરવા માટે આગ્રહ કરતી નથી, પરંતુ સાચો માર્ગ બતાવી માનવને નિર્ણય લેવા માટે સ્વતંત્રતા આપે છે.
ગીતાના અધ્યાયોનાં નામ મહાભારતમાં આપ્યા નથી પરંતુ પાછળથી કદાચ શંકરાચાર્યએ અધ્યાયોને નામ આપ્યા. અમુક ભાષ્યકારોએ ગીતાને ત્રણ ભાગમાં વહેંચી છે, જે છે કર્મયોગ, ભક્તિયોગ અને જ્ઞાનયોગ. ગીતાના અધ્યાયો અને વિભાગોના પ્રચલિત નામો નીચે મુજબ છે.

The Gita does not insist on doing anything like any other scripture, but shows the right way and gives man the freedom to make decisions.

The Gita chapters are not named in the Mahabharata but later Shankaracharya may have named the chapters. Some commentators have divided the Gita into three parts, namely, Karma Yoga, Bhakti Yoga and Gyan Yoga. The common names of the chapters and sections of the Gita are as follows.
